Parish Council meeting Thursday 22nd January, 2009, Swineshead Village Hall 8.00
The
Parish is the oldest form of local government in England,
with origins in the 16th century. Today’s system is founded on
legislation that came into force in 1974.
The
Parish Council is the first tier of local government, elected by,
and answerable to, a relatively
small, immediate community, which
means that it can be in close and regular contact with all the issues
which affect local people.
Our Quality Parish Council represents the two villages with a minimum
of six meetings per year. Extraordinary meetings are held as necessary.
Meetings
for the electors are held every year in March, alternating
between the two villages, and the AGM is held in May.
The meetings are always open to the public and press with public
participation appreciated at appropriate times.
